New Tech Tree Tanks: Soviet Dual-Barrel Heavy Tanks

Unleash the fury! These three World War II tanks feature bifurcated guns to bring double the destruction to your matches in Tiers VIII – X.

Without a doubt, dual-barrel tanks have been some of the most hotly anticipated tanks among the World of Tanks Modern Armor community.

Now, building on 2023’s Premium vehicles—the Object 703 Version II Black Edition and the Double Tap TS-54—we’re thrilled to announce a line of three new dual-barrel heavy tanks coming to the Soviet Tech Tree!

Arriving in the game on Tuesday, January 9th, the line branches off from the Soviet Tier VII KV-3 Heavy Tank and starts at Tier VIII. Each of these behemoths boasts robust armor (specifically the frontal turret armor) and a high damage potential and uses the dual-barrel mechanic to get in the enemy’s way. When you command these tanks, you’ll force every opponent to back down.

IS-2-II

  • Class: Heavy Tank

  • Note: If you Elite the Tier VII KV-3 before the branch is added, the IS-2-II will automatically be unlocked

This was a project for a double-barreled vehicle based on the mass-produced IS-2 heavy tank. It was supposed to feature a wider, elongated hull. It existed only in blueprints.

Similarly, this was a double-barreled vehicle based on the mass-produced IS-3 heavy tank. The tank featured a wider, elongated hull and an enlarged turret compared to the original version. It existed only in blueprints.

This was a project for a heavy double-barreled tank that was a further development of the ST-I. Keeping the original dimensions and weight, the new vehicle was supposed to feature two 100mm or 122mm guns. It existed only in blueprints.
