PS4 troubleshooter

Technical issues can happen, and the Player Support team is here to help. However, there are a few steps that you can take to solve most problems.

Basic Connection Troubleshooting

Many cases can be resolved by entirely restarting your PS4 and your modem.

  1. Turn off your modem and disconnect the PS4 from the Internet for 10 minutes.
    • Unplug the Ethernet cable from the console, if present.
  2. Once this is done, turn on the modem and connect your PS4 to the Internet.
  3. Make sure all players have logged out of the PS4 and do a full shutdown.

This process resets the modem and internet setup and provides a full reboot of the console.

Should the issue continue, test your internet connection:

  1. Go to [Settings] > [Network] > [Test Internet Connection]
  2. Check the list of ports below based on your PlayStation console or service.
    • PlayStation Now - UDP Port: 2053
    • TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480
    • UDP: 3478, 3479
  3. Make sure to enable these TCP/UDP ports in BOTH directions and that they are entered into the TCP and UDP port fields in your modem.
  4. Make sure that you have a Nat setting of 1 or 2.

If you see no error on your console, contact Player Support and provide the following information:

  • NAT Type
  • Connection Speed (Download)
  • Connection Speed (Upload)
