Brace for Italian Tanks!

Update 4.9 is introducing the game's very first Italian tank, the Ariete Progetto M35 mod. 46! This Medium Tank is a precursor to the arrival of the Italian Tech Tree later this month, which we'll be revealing more about throughout March. The Ariete Progetto is a Tier VIII Premium tank that has a 90mm auto-reloading gun and excellent mobility, making it an effective flanker. Get yours from the Store from March 5!

New Tank Feature: Auto-Reloader

The Ariete Progetto uses a new gun mechanic called an Italian auto-reloader (currently available only for Italian tanks from Tiers VIII-X). Auto-reloaders can hold multiple shells that reload automatically, one shell at a time until the clip is full. Unlike existing auto-loaders, once a shell is loaded, it can be fired without needing to wait for all rounds in the clip to be loaded! This allows for single fire or burst fire, and flexible firepower depending on what the combat situation calls for.

Unlike traditional tanks that have a single reload value, each shell of an Italian auto-reloader has its own reload value, with the last shell having the longest reload time, and the first shell having the shortest. Players will want to keep this in mind when deciding whether to shoot multiple rounds into the enemy, causing a longer reload, or to only shoot one round and wait for the shorter reload process to finish before shooting again.

  • When a match begins the first shell starts auto-reloading. Once the shell is loaded it can be fired immediately without having to wait for all shells to be loaded. As soon as one shell is loaded, it will begin auto-reloading the next shell and keep repeating this process until the clip is full.

  • When a shell is fired, there will be a short reload time before the next shell can be fired. If you do not shoot again, the expended shell will automatically begin auto-reloading (see the gallery below).

  • If at any time you fired while a shell is currently auto-reloading, the auto-reloading process will be interrupted, causing the reload process to start over.

Commander Mode Returns with Keyboard and Mouse Support!

As you may already know, Commander Mode is coming back, and we've implemented lots of new and exciting changes based on your feedback. For the first time ever in World of Tanks: Mercenaries, you'll be able to hook up your keyboard and mouse to your console to play this mode like a classic PC real-time strategy game! We hope you enjoy bringing down enemy Commanders and Tankers with point-and-click precision in the latest iteration of this event mode.

You can get the full lowdown on all the changes, as well as a full guide to the mode and its controls, in our dedicated article. Commander Mode will be available for a limited time only from March 5.

Replays: 'Highlights Only'

The 'Highlights Only' option is a feature you can activate in the replay control bar in order to watch specific moments in the game that are marked for highlights. These moments include: Tank Destroyed, Suicide, Base Capture start,  and Base Capture finish. Each moment is marked on the timeline with a specific marker.

'Highlights Only' is turned off by default. To turn Highlights Only on, press up on the D-pad to open the timeline and change the 'Highlights Only' toggle from 'Off' to 'On'. With the 'Highlights Only' option turned on, the user can watch a more condensed version of the replay which will only play the highlights marked in the timeline.
