Polish Tech Tree: All You Need To Know!

Make sure your tank expertise is up to scratch before the Polish Tech Tree is introduced.

We introduced the Wojtek and the 50TP prototyp Premium vehicles to the game earlier in November, and now it’s time for the Polish Tech Tree to take to the battlefield when Update 4.8 arrives in December! The Polish line will begin with Light Tanks, culminating with top-tier Heavy Tanks after a journey through mid-tier Medium Tanks. Shall we take a closer look?

Tier I - IV Vehicles

Early Polish machines borrowed a lot from vehicles built by leading tank manufacturers of the 1930s and ’40s. Their traits are similar to other nations' vehicles: they're fast and dynamic, but with thin armor. The distinguishing feature of the Polish tanks at lower tiers is they have slightly higher alpha damage potential than their peers.

4TP (Tier I Light Tank)

Based on the famous Vickers Carden Loyd, it weighs in at just over 4 tons and is equipped with an 85hp engine. You might start calling this the tiny “tractor”.

7TP (Tier II Light Tank)

The British influence continues at Tier II. An evolution of the design laid down with the Vickers Mk. E, this went further than his “little brother”, with just under 150 tanks rolling off the production line

10TP (Tier III Light Tank) and 14TP (Tier IV Light Tank)

These Tier III and IV Light Tanks have very similar models. The 10TP was prototyped and successfully tested between 1938 and 1939, but due to the outbreak of the Second World War, work on the tank stopped and the prototype was destroyed. A similar fate befell the 14TP too, as work was delayed in early 1939 when a suitable engine couldn’t be found. The tank was never assembled due to the German invasion in September 1939.

Tier V - VII Vehicles

Marking the transition to Heavy Tanks in the higher tiers, the mid-tier tanks are diverse from a gameplay perspective, introducing a new set of combat roles. The Tier V vehicle is a Light/Medium Tank hybrid, the Tier VI is an armored-up Medium Tank, and the Tier VII is a straight-up Medium/Heavy Tank hybrid.

25TP KSUST II (Tier V Medium Tank)

A tank concept developed in 1937, this Tier V vehicle has been hotly anticipated by the Polish community. The tank has evolved from the lower-tiered Polish vehicles with a 75mm gun and 135HP alpha damage. It's rather impressive when next to its Medium peers!

40TP Habicha (Tier VI Medium Tank) and 45 TP Habicha (Tier VII Heavy Tank)

Now we reach the two incarnations of a concept by Edward Habich. Both of these tanks were brought to life from the ideas of this talented Polish engineer, blending the best parts of contemporary German and Soviet designs. The Soviet influence resulted in sloped armor, and the German influence brought compact turrets and high firepower. The firepower will be a consistently strong feature of Polish tanks from Tier VI upwards.

Tier VII - Tier X Vehicles

While the top-tier Polish tanks never made it past the drawing board and were left alone in the archives, we believe it’s a great way of refreshing and bringing these machines to life. The three projects were thesis projects by graduate engineers; they would have seen a departure from the post-war Soviet vehicles their fleet used.

53TP Markowskiego (Tier VII Heavy Tank)

This Tier VIII tank is best seen as a transitional tank, acting as a bridge between its Medium and Heavy brethren. It’s a relatively heavy but bulky tank with a couple of cannons (105mm and 122mm). Armor-wise, the tank has a tough turret on top of a weaker hull.

50TP Tyszkiewicza (Tier VIII Heavy Tank)

This tank boasts great alpha damage from its 130mm gun. It boasts destructive firepower and great armor, but things start to really slow down in terms of its top speed.

60TP Lewandoskiego (Tier IX Heavy Tank)

In terms of size and looks, you’d be mistaken to think this was a Soviet vehicle. With a 152mm gun fitted on the tank, you can potentially knock 750 HP off enemies with one shot. This Tier X war machine fits as a hybrid of the IS-4 and E-100: a heavily armored, low-speed damage dealer that is perfect for crushing enemy defenses.

The Polish Tech Tree will be added to World of Tanks: Mercenaries when Update 4.8 drops in December.
